Two year-olds and four year-old boys are facing charges of distributing intimate images of at least 20 high school girls without consent, and possessing and distributing child pornography. The school principal told police she learned from a student of the two Dropbox accounts and the number of images in them at that time. It defines nude images as those exposing private parts, while suggestive images may cover private parts but appear to be sexual in nature. In another portion of the police information, Heather Foote, the vice-principal of Parkview Education Centre in Bridgewater, told police she had learned from a teenaged girl that a nude picture of her may have appeared with her face blotted out. RCMP say an investigation is ongoing regarding a website that a Pictou County woman says contained intimate photos posted of local women without their consent. Kayde Stanley posted on social media Monday about a website that allows people to submit pornographic images of women and post comments, which she said includes photos of Pictou County women. She found out about the website when a friend of hers alerted her on Sunday that they were told her name was on there.
There have been posts on the website warning whoever keeps posting the photos to "give it up," because the RCMP are tracking the website. In these scenarios, quite often the websites are located in countries that we don't have legal agreements with. One of the photos is of a woman CTV News spoke with last month, who described her fear and embarrassment about the privately taken pictures, and the messages addressed to her on social media. The site was taken down, but not for long, which health experts say takes a major toll on the victims. Every time they go through this, the victims are re-traumatized. Recent criminal code changes have made it illegal to share intimate images without consent. MacRae says stopping the websites can be as difficult as shutting them down.
